The experiment

Fire identical glazed test tiles in:

• Oxidation (electric kiln, full oxygen)
• Reduction (gas kiln, restricted oxygen)

What to compare

Why this matters

• Iron glazes go from boring brown in oxidation to stunning celadons in reduction
• Copper glazes shift from green to deep red (copper red is legendary for a reason)
• The same recipe produces two completely different pots

Access note

Reduction requires a gas kiln. If you don't have one, ask about community studio reduction firings. This experiment is worth the trip.
