Cut and reassemble a thrown form

This is sculpture meets wheel work. You throw a form, then deconstruct and reconstruct it into something the wheel alone could never make.

Steps

1. Throw a cylinder (~15 cm tall) and let it reach leather hard
2. Cut it: diagonally, horizontally at an angle, or into sections
3. Reassemble at a different angle, with an offset, or rotated
4. Score, slip, and blend all joins

Ideas to try

• Cut at a 45° angle and reattach shifted over by 2 cm
• Cut in half and swap top/bottom orientation
• Cut into thirds and stagger them

The altered form should look

• Deliberate (not accidental or broken)
• Structurally sound (all joins properly scored and slipped)
• Like something that couldn't exist without both the wheel and the cut

This technique opens up an entire world of sculptural possibilities starting from simple thrown forms.
