Hard

Attach handles to four mugs for consistency

A set of mugs with handles at different heights and angles looks amateur. Time to train your eye.

The challenge

Attach handles to four mug bodies, placing them at:

  • The same height (measure from the rim down)
  • The same angle (the curve should match)
  • The same side relative to any marks or decoration

Assessment

Line up all four mugs. Look at them from the side. The handles should arc identically.

Comfort test

Pick up each mug as if it were full of hot coffee. The handle should:

  • Fit your fingers comfortably
  • Balance the weight of the mug
  • Keep your knuckles clear of the hot mug body

If one handle feels awkward, figure out why. That's your lesson for the next batch.
