Pull handles with consistent cross-section
Now focus on what the handle feels like to grip. The cross-section shape determines comfort.
Pull ten handles and then cut each one in half to compare cross-sections.
What you want
- A comfortable rounded shape (not flat like a ribbon, not round like a coil)
- Slightly wider than tall (like a flattened oval)
- All ten should look similar in width and thickness at matching points
Why cross-section matters
A flat handle digs into your fingers. A round handle feels clumsy. The ideal is somewhere between: a gentle oval that nestles into the crook of your finger.
Hold each one as if you were gripping a mug. Does it feel natural?
