Pour glaze inside a mug
For the interior of most forms, pouring is easier and more controllable than dipping.
Steps
- Hold the bisque mug over a basin (to catch drips)
- Fill the interior with glaze (pour from a jug or ladle)
- Immediately swirl the mug to coat all interior surfaces
- Pour out in one smooth motion, rotating the mug as you empty it
- Shake off the last drops
Success criteria
- Uniform interior coverage: no bare patches, no pooling
- The exterior is still clean (no drips over the rim)
- The glaze doesn't pool at the bottom (you poured it out quickly enough)
Common mistake
Pouring too slowly when emptying. Glaze pools at the lowest point and drips over the rim. Be decisive: tip and pour in one confident motion.
